OTIS Federal Credit Union Donates School Supplies to Teachers and Homeschooling Families

JAY— OTIS Federal Credit Union recently celebrated their third annual “Totes for Teachers” back-to-school event, giving away one hundred fifty plastic totes full of supplies to teachers employed within OTIS FCU’s field of membership. During the event, educators visited the branch to claim their tote, eager and ready to start the school year.

After the event, remaining totes were distributed to a handful of schools in Auburn, Poland, and Jay, including Fairview Elementary in Auburn and Sweet Tomatoes Learning Center in East Jay. Between the in-branch event and subsequent distribution, educators from thirty-five schools across six Maine counties received school supplies for their classrooms.

Chris Bouchard, President/CEO of OTIS FCU, remarked, “We love seeing local teachers stop by to pick up their totes. It is a great way to connect with the amazing educators in our field of membership and thank them for their dedicated service. We hope to reach even more schools in the nine counties we serve, year over year.”

New this year, OTIS FCU also donated “Homeschool Packs” to homeschool students from more than twenty-five area families. Each Pack included a durable reusable tote with a variety of supplies, such as notebooks, pencils, glue sticks, and erasers.

“After the success of our Totes for Teachers event last year, we had several inquiries about homeschool supplies. There was a definite local need that OTIS FCU wanted to fulfill,” stated Kimberly Couture, OTIS FCU’s Director of Marketing and Communications. “Homeschooling members who were interested in free supplies simply filled out a request form to reserve a Pack for each of their students. The response was overwhelming – all Packs were reserved in less than twenty-four hours.” Whether you teach at a public or private school, or choose to homeschool, OTIS FCU warmly wishes our educators (and students!) a great start to the new school year.
